Psi Alpha Omega’s 2011 programs continue to fall under the National Program Theme: Global Leadership through Timeless Service. Under this program theme, Psi Alpha Omega will be implementing the following programs:
Exquisite P.E.A.R.L.S. (Pushing Excellence and Raising Leaders to Succeed)
Exquisite PEARLS is a mentoring program for young ladies in grades 7th – 12th grade that live in the Henry and Clayton County area. The program is designed to positively influence the lives of young women to strengthen their belief in themselves, and assist them to improve their grades, self-worth, and ability to reach their personal goals and become productive members of society. The young ladies also have sessions on Etiquette, Budgeting, College Preparation, Career Development, Healthy Living and Exercise, Teen Violence and Date Rape, Entrepreneurship, Marketing/Sales Techniques, and a Book Club.
Applications for membership will be available on the website and must be submitted during the month of May. Acceptance letters are mailed over summer break, with the first Membership Session starting in August. There are currently 40 PEARLS for the 2009-2010 season, and a waiting list for membership for the 2010-2011 Season.
Partnership with Laurel Park Nursing Home (Henry County)
This partnership has been in existence since Psi Alpha Omega was chartered in December 2005. Members of the chapter visit the nursing home and host BINGO for the residents. During which time, members visit with the residents and play games. The chapter also donates needed supplies for the residents as well as hosts a Christmas Celebration in December.
Partnership with Rainbow House Shelter (Clayton County)
Rainbow House is a children’s shelter that works with children to restore, heal, and rebuild their lives. Under this program, the chapter will be volunteering at the Rainbow House Shelter and provide activities and workshops for the children during their stay at the shelter to ensure they continue to learn life’s lessons. Some activities will include etiquette sessions, budgeting, and situational skits; as well as fun activities like movies, arts and crafts, etc.
Hands of Hope Clinc, Inc. (Henry County)
The Hands of Hope Clinic, Inc. provides free medical and dental care for uninsured and underserved residents of Henry County. This clinic relies on volunteers to donate their time and services, as well as donations from the community. Psi Alpha Omega will be working with the clinic through donations that will help the clinic to continue providing compassionate, quality healthcare for every eligible patient who enters its doors.
Annual Community Day/Health Fair
Each year the chapter hosts a community day/health fair celebration for the Clayton and Henry County residents. For 2010, the event is scheduled for September 11, 2010 from 10:00am – 2:00pm. During the event, there will be exhibitors, and various workshops as indicated below:
- Diabetes Workshop

- Healthy Eating Workshop
- Teen Summit
- Sister2Sister Forum
- Financial Forum

School Tools for Success
In an effort to increase support of school children in the Henry and Clayton County elementary schools, a back to school supply drive will be held. The chapter’s goal is to make a total donation of 102 stuffed book bags to selected elementary schools. The school counselors will be contacted to determine the students within their schools that are in need of assistance.
Garments For Change Program
In partnership with a Battered Women’s Shelter, the chapter hosts clothing drives to collect business casual and business clothes to donate to the shelter. Psi Alpha Omega also hosts quarterly resume preparation workshops, job interviewing skills simulations, self esteem, business etiquette, and proper business attire sessions at the shelter.
Scholarship Program
Each year, the chapter has strived to help a young woman or young man continue their educational goals by providing scholarships. Since 2006, Psi Alpha Omega has awarded over $10,000 in college scholarships to young women and men living in Henry and Clayton Counties. Applications for the scholarship are available in the Clayton and Henry County High Schools and on the chapter’s website in January.

- Psi Alpha Omega particpates in Chapter Cash from Stuff4Greeks. When chapter members, purchase paraphernalia from Stuff4Greeks, they will send the chapter a percentage of every dollar spent .
