Chapter Programs

Psi Alpha Omega is represented by 140 women of strength and courage. We were chartered on December 10, 2005 and serve the citizens of Clayton and Henry Counties. As the oldest Greek-letter organization for African-American women, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, has been in the forefront of providing “Service to All Mankind.” Psi Alpha Omega is committed to upholding the ideals demonstrated by our founders and being of service to our community. Since 2005, Psi Alpha Omega has worked tirelessly in the community. By designing programs under the Launching New Dimensions of Service, we meet the needs of our community in a variety of ways.

In addition to the 2014-2018 National Program Theme: Launching New Dimensions of Service that we support, Psi Alpha Omega implements the following programs:


ASCEND is a mentoring program targeting high school girls and boys (grades 9th – 11th). Monthly sessions focus on Monthly sessions focus on Achievement, Self-Awareness, Communication, Engagement, Networking and Development Skills. The participants of the program will also  participate in a UN classroom project.

Pearls of Perfection

Pearls of Perfection is a mentoring program targeting middle school young ladies (grades 6th – 8th) that live in the Clayton or Henry County area. Monthly sessions focus on Leadership Development, Educational Enrichment, Civic Engagement, and Character Building. For the Inaugural year 2011-2012, Psi Alpha Omega mentored 18 middle school girls. Today, Pearls of Perfection continues to positively impact the lives of middle school girls.

Exquisite P.E.A.R.L.S. (Pushing Excellence and Raising Leaders to Succeed)

Exquisite PEARLS is a mentoring program for high school young ladies (grades 9th – 11th) that live in the Clayton or Henry County area. The program is designed to positively influence the lives of young women to strengthen their belief in themselves, and assist them to improve their grades, self-worth, and ability to reach their personal goals and become productive members of society. The young ladies also have sessions on Etiquette, Budgeting, College Preparation, Career Development, Healthy Living and Exercise, Teen Violence and Date Rape, Entrepreneurship, Marketing/Sales Techniques, and a Book Club.

Partnership with Rainbow House Shelter (Clayton County)

Rainbow House is a children’s shelter that works with children to restore, heal, and rebuild their lives. Under this program, the chapter volunteers at the Rainbow House Shelter and provide activities and workshops for the children during their stay at the shelter to ensure they continue to learn life’s lessons. Some activities include etiquette sessions, budgeting, and situation skits; as well as fun activities like movies, arts and crafts.

Hands of Hope Clinic, Inc. (Henry County)

The Hands of Hope Clinic, Inc. provides free medical and dental care for uninsured and underserved residents of Henry County. This clinic relies on volunteers to donate their time and services, as well as donations from the community. Psi Alpha Omega works with the clinic through donations that will help the clinic to continue providing compassionate, quality healthcare for every eligible patient who enters its doors. Mental Health Awareness

Psi Alpha Omega Chapter provides educational information to the community monthly about issues related to mental illness.

School Tools for Success

In an effort to increase support of school children in the Clayton and Henry County elementary schools, a back-to-school supply drive is held annually. Stuffed book bags are donated to schools and shelters in the Clayton and Henry County area prior to the start of the school year. Since 2008, the chapter has distributed over 400 stuffed book bags.

Garment For Change and Seasonal Wraps Program

In partnership with a Battered Women’s Shelter, the chapter hosts a “Project Renew” clothing drive to collect hats, gloves, socks, scarves, coats, sweaters and gently used business and casual attire to donate to the shelter. Psi Alpha Omega also hosts quarterly resume preparation workshops, job interviewing skills simulations, self esteem, business etiquette, and proper business attire sessions at the shelter.

Childhood Hunger/Food Baskets Donation

Since our inception, Psi Alpha Omega has collected and distributed food baskets during Thanksgiving and Christmas for families in need. Also, Psi Alpha Omega provides “Blessings in a Bag” for children to have food to eat over the weekend during the month of October.

Scholarship Program

Each year, the chapter has strived to help a young woman or young man continue their educational goals by providing scholarships. Since 2006, Psi Alpha Omega has awarded over $14,000 in college scholarships to young women and men living or attending school in Clayton and Henry Counties.

Think HBCU Program

Psi Alpha Omega donates funds to selected HBCU  colleges to assist students who attend predominately black colleges to reach their educational goals.

The Southern Crescent Pearls Foundation, Inc.

The Southern Crescent Pearls Foundation, Incorporated is an affiliate of Psi Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ®. The foundation endeavors to grant scholarships to students and funding to organizations for charitable, educational and scientific purposes.

Pink Goes Red

Our sorority is a strategic ally of the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ movement, making our participation vital. In the spirit of Service to All Mankind, members of our chapter gathered at Southlake Mall to meet, greet and distribute literature to citizens of the Southern Crescent community. Our goal was to bring awareness to the impact of heart disease as the No. 1 killer of women, realizing that it is more deadly than all forms of cancer.

Relay For Life

This year the ladies of Psi Alpha Omega will partner, once again, with the National Cancer Society and participate in Relay for Life. We will raise money to find a cure for this deadly disease. We will walk the tracks in honor of friends and family who have beat or surcumed to this deadly disease. We will assist in any capacity at both events held in Henry and Clayton Counties. Children in Transition

Children in Transition is a program that provides an educational environment that treats students with dignity and respect. The program ensures that every student in the district who meets the criteria for homelessness shall have access to a free and appropriate education. This commitment to the educational rights of homeless children and youth applies to all the services, programs and activities provided or made available by Clayton County Public Schools. Psi Alpha Omega is committed to assisting by items necessary to support these students.

Playground Project

This Spring, we partnered with Global Impact Ministries to restore, refresh and renew a playground located in Henry County. The AKA 1908 Playground Project℠  was launched to ensure children have safe and inviting places to play. Sorority members will restore and renew 1,908 existing community and school playgrounds with its Restore, Refresh and Renew Project℠.

Build a Home

This year, we dawn our Pink hard hats and Green tool belts and partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a house.

Training Sessions

Sessions will be hosted for chapter members to help develop and enhance leadership skills within the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. so they can serve the communities in which they live. Managed by the Chapter’s Standard’s Committee. Psi Alpha Omega will also hold  educational sessions within the community that provides information on budgeting, financial planning, and home ownership

Calvary Refuge Homeless Shelter

The chapter will partner with Calvary to provide toiletry items and prepare meals for the homeless clients.

Pink Goes Green/Acts of Green

Chapter will manage waste and litter by picking up the trash at the Playground Project and will promote recycling by providing recycling bins at chapter meetings and other chapter events. During the second part of the year, we will host a document shredding event.
